This poem seems to be about how he can not reach his goals in life, yet it goes beyond that and into the process of growing up.
As he is getting older, his dreams may seem less realistic or impossible. The wall in the poem rises as he gets older to show an obstacle in his life that stops him from his ambitions. Eventually, he is overshadowed by the wall and longs to find himself once again. When he breaks through the wall, he can now see all of dreams returning to him, for now he is mature enough to live them.
