This poem is very short and concise, yet conveys a great amount of meaning. Glass is very fragile and mutable, which is how it is used to metaphorically say that if our tongues were made of glass, we may be more careful when we speak. We would have to limit our amount of talking because we would want to not overuse or put our glass at risk, so we would possibly only say the most meaningful things we have in our mind. Possibly, that would stop verbal abuse because we would not waste precious words on criticizing others.
